I liked the movie. Jim Carrey is funny as usual. Nice Story too IMHO. Its about a man who is lazy, boring and introvert. To rectify this behavior he gets taken to a seminar and after that he needs to say "YES" to everything. His boring life changes as a result.

Some may say this movie is based on "Memento", if it is then Ghajini should have been named "Tormento" for it is nothing short of tormenting experience for the audience. Memento was a little short of a great movie this one is a typical pot boiler, extremely loud, badly directed and acted south indian revenge story. apart from Aamir Khan's dedication to his craft there is nothing much to talk about this movie. This is a Dickensonian tale of "rags to riches" with a bollywood twist. This movie is based on Vikas Swarup's novel "Q&A" and derives the main storytelling device from it. It is a story about a call center chaiwallah getting on to desi version of "Who wants to be a millionaire" (hosted by Anil Kapur). Before the protagonist gets the final question he gets intorrogated by mumbai cops in their typical style (Irfan Khan). There the protagonist reveals/narrate through events of his life how knew the answers to the questions. More than the protagonist this movie seemed to be about Mumbai - the Maximum City (per Suketu Mehta's novel). This movie is all about the energy of the city. Never before this energy is captured so wonderfully in a movie in part due to great camerawork, editing and great music by AR Rahman that just amplifies this effect.
I don't want to reveal too much about the movie however, I can certainly make this claim: For complete entertainment this is the must see movie of the season. It must be watched in theaters to enjoy.

This comes from the makers of Khosla Ka Ghosla and so it had high expectations from me. Its an intelligent movie but not quite as good as Khosla Ka Ghosla. In fact it gets confusing at times.
Abhay Deol is a thief who robs music systems, TV, etc from people's homes. This story is about him. Abhay Deol is the most talented of the Deol family (as per Rohit) and this film shows why. Abhay is excellent in his acting.
Paresh Rawal is in a triple role and that adds to the confusion unfortunately. I liked the background music which plays each time Abhay robs a home. |

I am watching this movie in 8 parts courtesy BhejaFry. I have completed about 5 parts and those are enough for me to write a review.
I am hugely disappointed in the director Sanjay Gadhvi (also director of Dhoom) and Imran Khan. I had high hopes for Imran after Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa but here he highly disappoints. I hope this is a one-off failure and he comes back strongly in some other movie.
Sanjay Dutt is also forgettable. Some of the storyline is downright ridiculous. There is no thrill in this thriller. Save your money and if you have to see it, watch it for Free on BhejaFry. |

I had great expectations from this film due to its nice trailer. And the fact that the executive producer is Spielberg. But when I went to see this movie (thru our Company team outing) I was disappointed.
The story is based on the fact that there are video cameras now everywhere and hence its easy for a computer to takeover the video network and control the traffic signals, etc and keep an eye out on all that is happening out there.
There are many loopholes in the script. Things just happen without much explanation. Too many car crashes. Gave me a headache. Skip It !!!

Another decent, lean and mean thriller out of Bollywood. No songs, no trips to Swazi/Switzerland, no love story, saas bahu, comically menacing villains, or shirtless/towelless hero/heroin needed in this movie to keep one glued to one's seat (or carpet, in my case). It's all about the script, dialogues, acting and no nonsense execution.
The movie is about a terrorist threat of a serial bomb blasts in Mumbai if the government doesn't release 4 terrorists and how the cops deal with the situation. There have been several movies with the same plot 90% of which none would bother to watch. However this one is different. There is no dialogue baazi and cheap patriotism lecturing. In my humble opinion hindi movies dealing with the topic of terrorism should stay away from lecturing on patriotism and fingerpointing the foreign governments since, most of the recent terrorist acts have been committed by home grown terrorists (a "Made In India" product we could have lived without).
Anyway, unlike the movie I am straying from the topic.
What keeps the proceedings engrossing?
- Script: a taut script that stays on the topic all the time. However, the screenplay is sprinkled with some hindi expletives that may not be go down well with everyone.
- Acting: This movie is about Kher and Shah (think de Niro and Al Pacino in Heat). Anupam Kher as a commissionar/IG has acted really well. He breathes intensity in the movie. Naseerudding Shah has a great role that he executes effortlessly. Other guys have decent supporting roles and they do their jobs well.
- Execution, editing, length: On the money! 2 hrs length and one will never get the urge to fast forward.

Movie has a very colorful visual appeal with good locations from Venice, Switzerland,Italy and Australia....
First half has a good sense of comedy and keeps you entertained all through....second half it seems the story writter was underpaid...he forgot to add the twists and just ends abruptly
Also impressive is Paintal's son....he has good screen presence and a nice comdey timing......

The actor Forest Whitaker won an Oscar for the lead. Another 34 wins & 20 nominations for the movie. Just his expressions alone should have won an oscar and then add body lang and dialog delivery and there's just nothing left to be said.
Even though some facts are muddled its a very interesting part of history. I believe most public libraries carry the movie.

This is a very very visually appealing movie. Keep the story aside for a minute and enjoy the visuals. Awesome portrayal of the future. The story is ok too. Not as good as Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc story wise. Not as much humor as well. But the visuals are fantastic.
Pixar as usual delivers again. Dont miss the short movie Presto at the beginning. That is also class.

For the first time the subtitles were not literal translations but actually customized eg when the actor thanks a cop towards the end the subtitles read "Muchos Gracias Dirty Harry".

An offbeat movie, Aamir starts off as an intriguing thriller about a common man forced into criminal exploitation in the course of a day. Its a good attempt by its first time director and good acting by the main character as well. The movie is shot mostly in run-down locations in Mumbai. Felt a little stretched at times. I kept waiting for the movie to pick up pace.

We finally saw this movie courtesy the Library. I liked the simple story told by Amol Palekar. Its a very visual and colorful movie. Not everyone in the household who saw it liked it. Some found it boring.
But I personally liked it. SRK and Rani have done a good job. And the visuals of the village somewhere in Rajasthan/Gujarat are simple awesome. I loved the part where Amitabh makes a guest entry as well. |

I was a little disappointed as I expected much more form this movie. Watching Jackie Chan and Jet Li together was be a dream come true for a die hard fan like me since kindergarden (my best efforts at hiding my age surely need greasing here).
A "Lord of the Rings" wrapper with some Chinese superstars and nothing better describes this movie. Theres only good fight scene between Chan and Li, rest all is magic woodoo of the likes of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The graphics and picturization falls short of the standards set by "Crouching Dragon Hidden under Sofa" or whatever it was called.
Watch it for no good reason but don't expect too much. |

Since this was a Madhuri Dixit movie, had to see it no matter how bad. Madhuri still has her million dollar smile but this movie does not give her much scope to act. The story has several loopholes most glaring of which is the appearance of extras in final show on the stage when it was going so tough to find the main 6 characters. The song "Aaja Nachle" is of course peppy and nicely rendered. And so is the final show song at the end.

True story based entertaining movie. This movie is based on MIT students doing "card counting" to win big time in blackjack (and hence the name 21). The reason to rake in big cash is to pay for Harvard Med school. Although card counting is not illegal, it is highly discouraged. Also looks like it a special skill which is possessed by very few individuals.
Overall entertaining movie. Kevin spacey has done pretty good job. One time watch on DVD. |

Heees back.. I have grown up watch Rambo and Rocky. Broken my friend's tooth and cracked my skull while trying to live up to my hero. This movie is by far the bloodiest Rambo ever. Rambo goes gang-busta on The Burmese Junta. There are people falling from tree tops, buildings, farms and boats and he uses his famous bow and arrow though just once.
On the softer side, it is eye opening to see the atrocities committed on the Burmese people. Glad to see Rambo going after somebody other than the usual suspects and Cold War foe Russia.
While Rambo has been my childhood hero I wouldn't suggest this one for the young ones. And for a break, Sylvester does have more than 10 dialogues in this movie. |

Brilliantly directed. An international event against global terrorism in Spain is itself a target. All the squares and numbers don't add up till you start seeing the story unveiled from 5 different people and angles (vantage points). The event unwinds and is repeated 5 to 6 times as seen or experienced by 5/6 different people. Very different style of detailing. The car chases through narrow Spanish streets keeps you gripped. You can see this movie at home. No need to go to the big screens. It is the idea and style of direction that counts and matters. Otherwise no big fireworks on this one. Race is the new Abbas-Mustan thriller starring Saif Ali, Akshay Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy.
Being a car-buff, it was great to see the sports cars parade in the movie - the sets are picturesque, the songs scintillating and the action non-stop. The plot keeps twisting and turning and the movie is nicely set up for a sequel.
Anil Kapoor and Sameera do a decent Karamchand-Kitty parody (for those of you who are old enough to remember that TV show). Apparently Saif has done all the stunts in this movie himself, which is quite a feat.
A must see on the big screen to truly appreciate this movie. |

This is another low key thriller from Bollywood after "Johny Gaddar" and it is equally, if not less fascinating. Unlike almost all the hindi movie titles with meaningless sub-heading (e.g. Lucky - No Time for Love) here the movie stays true to its sub-heading 'In the desert nothing is as it seems'. So in 'Manorama 6 Feet Under' nothing is indeed as it seems. The movie is about a scandal brewing in a sleepy, mysterious desert town in Rajasthan. The protagonist is a a corrupt engineer (Abhay Deol) whose aspiration of being a novelist died with a dud novel "Manorama". In his mundane existance comes a woman knocking on his door requesting him to take pictures of his infidel husband for money. Thus begins a story that smartly unfolds the mystery and springs a lot of surprises.
The movie is clearly inspired by, if not a rip off of, Polanski's 'Chinatown'. In one scene you even see Chinatown playing on TV. The writing is clever, the visuals are impressive. The performances are subdued and let the story be the centerpiece of this enterprise. The movie sags a bit in the middle but last 30 minutes of the movie are gripping.
Coming to the performances, Abhay Deol gives a really subdued performance. Unlike the rest of the Deol clan he is never seen salivating at the site of dogs (Kutte mai tera khoon pi jaoonga) neither is he seen defeating the army of Pakistan with a massive roar. Gul Panag has a simple role but she does her part very well. Raima Sen is good. Sarika is stunning in the title role and Vinay Pathak is very entertaining. This guy can pull off anything with ease.
The songs are minimal. But the few that we have are pleasant and adequate for the screenplay.
In spite of its length (~ 2 hrs) 'Manorama 6 Feet Under' is entertaining. It's bizarre, dark, funny and it's thrilling. It has adult theme and content and it demands attention.

Yet another disaster from the maker of Kisna- Subhash Ghai the showman.....he tried to be different this time by shying away from big budget movies and dancing and jumping on foreign locales......but came in with yet another overcooked subject terrorists are humans after all and can be reformed by showing the blues and greens of sawariya so different from black and white world of theirs......man....and Shefali Chaya in her opening scene it seemed as if the voice recording was done for some cartoon character...quack quack.......and Desh Bhakti shown in form idiocacy....so much sweetness and love that I was diabetic while watching the movie...what a waste of Anil Kapoor....those boring un-understood dialogues, blind Desh prem with head nor tail...out to save the world.....the movie makes no impression but gives a headache....... |

The story line is....Todd manages a call center in Seatttle, the dept. is Outsourced to India and adding insult to injury, Todd must travel to India to train his new replacement.
As he lands in India, Todd is assaulted by the sights and sounds of a completely different culture. Navigating through the chaos of Bombay, Todd must train the most unlike team in the ways of America and American novelty products. Between accent and culture training to education on the cheesehead hat and hot dog toaster, Todd frantically tries to increase the effectiveness of the Indian office, so that he can return home to Seattle.
I found somethings to have been exaggerated but this may have been for the American audience. The best part the movie portrays is the positive and practical attitude of Indians and in face of all the daily problems/chaos one encounters...
It’s the Attitude rather than the Aptitude which helps us reach the Altitude.

One expects something different from Aamir's movies and usually the expections are high. Unfortunately, beyond novelty value for people who have not seen endless Robin Williams flicks there isn't much in the movie. The acting of the kid in the lead role and Aamir Khan is superb and the music videos (yep, the songs have been picturized that way) are a good change from in your face item numbers/shaadi/sagaai/Karva Choth songs. Beyond that he movie is weak. The point about the kid's short comings is hammered in one's head till one feels like jumping out of the Naz8 seat asking for mercy and begging for fast forward. There is a tank full of aansu bahana in the film as well which can be annoying. In fact, after first 15 minutes and barring a few scenes later on there is always someone weeping on the screen.
All in all a well intentioned movie with decent script and dialogues. However, the story has been overcooked and crying is overdone. Besides the novelty value it is an average film. Wait for the video. |

The movie start on train with some interesting bits of conversation between Jimmy Shergill and KK's characters. The movie is small, short and well picturized. The content is adult. Decent stuff for holidays and does need some level of attention. |

The title is stupid but the movie isn't. After watching Saawariya we had very low expectations of this one but it surprisingly delivered. Well, there isn't much original about the script. There are glimpses of DDLJ, DHKMN, etc. However, there is a refreshing take on the old material. The execution is tight and dialogues are crisp and funny. Fairly witty stuff. Unlike in typical hindi movies where things start off really well in the first half and then make you run to the exit in the second, this one holds things tight till the end. Keeping the proceedings short (about 2 hrs) helps as well.
Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur act well in this. Kareena is capable however, I didn't know that Shahid Kapur could act. Well, the Pankaj Kapur gene may be just waking up.
Watch this one to have a good time. |

We got to see Saawariya over the weekend at Leena's place. Good that we were watching in a group and hence we could entertain ourselves by passing comments otherwise this would have received a still lower rating.
This is a very very basic story with practically no twists. The sets, artwork is nice but the lack of a good story makes the film pretty hollow. On top of that 10+ songs. Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor are still new and I would reserve my judgement on them until they release some other films. In this film they are not exactly earth-shattering material.
As most other reviews on the web say it, so do I. "What was SLB thinking?"
Is he going the Ram Gopal Varma way and the Dev Anand way?

The first half done in the backdrop of 70's was just awesome.....the nautanki enacted between son(Om-SRK) mom (Kiran Kher) and Shreyas Talpade was a real entertainer.....but in the second half when Om tries to be Sharukh he messes it all"s"...only saviour in the second half was song with 31 stars....and guess who stands out from amongst all the 31 stars....Jeetendra with his famous taaki oh taaki oh taaki taaki taaki re steps.......
as far as Om was concerned he was great in nautanki mode.
Songs, the 70's costumes all made the movie very colorful.....also few KVites got inspired with the styles of 1970's
All in all we all came out with feeling of Happy endings of the Diwali Day...
Also Century Theatres in Beryessa was definately a better choice than Naaz |

Given that the rating for Hotel Rawanda could be 9+, I would definitely rate Beyond the gates as 8. It shows how weak and almost useless is UN and makes you think about lives in developed countries compared to those of in Africa. Caution though.....Its little graphic and not one of those feel good movies. |

The only different angle to the heist is a double cross and a pathetic Matrix style checkmate between the plotters of the heist.
Starring Jimmy Shergill and old timers Om Puri and Anupam Kher. Kher and Puri are old pals who have been in prison most of their lives. They get involved in a mystery involving a lost diamond and a carriage with the No. 203 as soon a sthey get out of jail and their prospects of returning to one again are already on the rise. Javed Jaffrey plays the villain with the "I am Bad Boy attitude".

Abhay Deol is a bored Engineer who instead prefers to write detective novels and take bribes at work. As if a detective novel write wouldn't be smart enough he gets caught and gets suspended. No wonder he is a flop writer and his book Manorama fails to hit the bookshelves.
Somehow he gets acquainted with the wife of a corrupt rich politician, who offers him money to keep an eye on her husband. Deol has no idea what he has signed up for and unravels one mystery after the other. What was the motive behind the lady's generous assignment ? Did he just sign up for more trouble ? Is the lady telling him the truth ? And why are people now after his life ? He has just 2 clues to begin with:
1] The name of this lady is also Manorama
2] And her age is 32.
Overall, a good movie and decent plot but rather slow. There are no songs and the story is shot with a small village background. Abhay Deol is lackluster .. they could have tried a better cast and added some colors or songs to the movie. In this regard this is not the usual Bollywood movie but worth a watch for the script. Enjoy the Rajasthani moustaches.

Wow! From the looks of it.. I wasn't really confident about this movie. But is this movie something.
Story - brilliant, colors - vibrant, camerawork - creative, sound - unobtrusive, editing - slick, entire team - smart! Sorry, director saahab, I have run out of adjectives, so choose a superlative for yourself and I’ll agree.
What do I say? Where do I start? I must admit, it is the most difficult to write about a suspense thriller. A bunch on new actors and lesser known faces other than Dharm papa. This movie is about a plot of get rich-quick treachery movie. Theres a "Gaddar" among 5 business friends and this Gaddar has some serious luck on his side. Everytime you think he has had it.. theres another escape route. As the movie progresses it gets more tense and you realize that this Johnny fellow is one son of a gun. Fast moves, quick thinking, deep plots and an always calculating mind and you don't even need luck on your side. Must watch. |

The 4 actors: Sharman Joshi, Tushar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Rajpal Yadav who are unemployed, want to get rich by marrying into a wealthy family. The problem is the director of this movie had money just enough to sign up only one actress and juice just enough for one actress-Mom.

While this movie is a direct take from a Chevy Chase Hollywood movie that I can't remember, it has been implemented brilliantly. 4 crazy guys Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Javed Jaffrey and Ashish Chaudhary meet even more crazy and frustrated Inspector Sanjay Dutt. The movie kicks off with tickling your funny bones soon after the cast introductions and in no time a crazy race to some hidden treasure ensues where 4 friends and a cop compete with each other. Theres not much script or drama to this. The chase is all the fun. At times the movie looks stretched buy hey who 's complaining when you have nothing better to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon. |

For those who are tender-hearted and hope to watch this movie as a romantic getaway... (well, thats kind of what the name suggests) heres a forewword. This is a thriller. Bhool Bhulaiyaa is about pyschological explanations of paranormal human behaviour.
Shiney Ahuja returns to his ancestral village with his wife Vidya Balan. This haveli is infested with some ghost voodoo, so enter Akshay Kumar, a friend and psychologist from the US, who grabs the Bhoot by the choti. Well, not exactly but you get the idea.
Best part of the movie are the songs. Akshay and Paresh Rawal are good. They still stand as the comedy kings for Priyadrashan. Vidya Balan stands out as an actress with great potential. All in all it is an ok watch but personally the thrill was a little to obvious for me.

Now admittedly I had the advantage of seeing this in Mumbai multiplex theatre with awesome sound system but this is a good movie to watch.
It has quite some things going in its favor. Awesome actors in form of Akshay, Ritesh, Fardeen, Vidya Balan and Boman Irani. A relatively simple plot. Great 2 fast songs (Title song "Hey baby" and "Dil ka mamla hai dilbar"). The comic timing of the 3 (Akshay, Ritest and Fardeen) is awesome. It has good laughs too. The Baby has performed well as well.
The locations are awesome and so is the camera work. Good Job Sajid Nadiadwala. Plenty of colors add vibrancy to the movie. Overall I would say you should see this movie and see it in good sound system.

Finally I got some time to read a novel after a long time. This book was given as bday present to me probably almost 2 years back.
A nice novel unveiling surprises and puzzles at end of each chapter. The chapters are short. So that is a good thing.
It presents an interesting perspective on a decades old story which has been fed to us from generation to generation. Could be true and if so could shake the foundation of Christianity. :-) . That is all I can say for now. Now I want to see the movie just as a curiosity about how they converted a wordy novel into a movie.... |

Independence day is here and time to see a good patriotic movie. 1971 is the story of, well, the 1971 Bangladesh War. The war is over but Pakistan is refusing to accept the presence of Indian POWs (Prisoners of War) that have been holed up in various jails all over Pakistan. Starring Manoj Bajpai and a cast of some new names, this movie is extremely well made. The cast is entertaining and convincing.
International pressure has put the Red Cross to visit Pakistani jails to find any existing POWs, but Pakistan has consistently denied their existence. In an attempt to hide these prisoners from the Red Cross, Pakistan has gathered all POWs in a secluded location while the Red Cross is busy taking their prison rounds in vain. The POWs are told they are being handed back to India so as to kill any suspicion they may have. But Bajpai and his comrades realize that the motives of the then- Zia Ul Haq government are not all that altruistic. They plan their escape in an attempt to reach India and inform the authorities of the existence and location of their fellow POWs.
This movie speaks well of the love and dedication these soldiers have for their country and their fellow POWs. They are ready to lay down their lives just so that one of them may cross the border and blow the whistle on the Pakistani government. Set amidst a wonderful landscape, the scenes are extremely beautiful. India has vast extents of natural beauty but we don’t appreciate and recognize them and instead we prefer visiting the Alps.
Movies as these should be sent to the Oscars, and not some crazy Shah-Rukh Khan infestations such as Paheli. This will present the true state of affairs of our men across the borders who have been neglected and not appreciated for their efforts, Instead they still await their fate for 3 and half decades. There are still 54 Indian POWs in Pakistani jails and were last seen in 1988. While we salute our great nation, we stand equally proud of all our armed forces. Jai Hind.

Most of us have seen or heard about the movie Illusionist. The Prestige (also from the makers of Illusionist), is another thriller about 19th-century stage magicians with secrets, advances far beyond its recent predecessor. The movie picks up slow but it has you riveted to your seat. This surprise packed thriller speaks well of human curiosity and envy.
The story is about 2 upcoming magicians, one time colleagues, who turn into arch rivals. They despise each other and at the same time are awed by each other’s successes and innovative tricks. The race to be stardom ends up in the quest to create a seemingly impossible feat -- "teleporting" from one side of the stage to the other in a manner that confounds explanation. There’s a touch of Physics with Tesla and Edison being part of the script, with David Bowie playing the role of Tesla. The Prestige utilizes a complex editing style, going back and forth between eras to create a cinematic sequence of revelation and deception. I think it is a great watch but before you start shut off all your phones and laptops. This one deserves all your attention.

Gosh! This has been one year of disappointments. First, it was Partner and now the last a much awaited Jason Bourne movie. This one lacks story and impact. If at all, it was a desperate attempt to lay to rest the Bourne episode of “Who am I ?”. Ludlum himself sounds tired as he attempts to end the suspense over the identity of Jason Bourne. It has the appeal of a last ritual which every director awaits as he is booking his tickets for his next Caribbean vacation on Travelocity.
There is very little action and Bourne is constantly on the run and to exaggerate his run, you will find the typical shaky screen. So, if you have already bought movie tickets, the only possible way I can help you is suggest not to sit on the front rows or if you are late for the movie and have no choice but to sit in the front buy yourself some Tylenol rather than some Popcorn.

I know what you are thinking of. No, this is no Michael Moore, “This is a bane and I have an obligation to fight it” documentary. Infact, it’s the other way around. This is the story of a lobbyist who works for the Tobacco companies in lobbying for and supporting the tobacco industry. Haan ? It is amazing how the director portrays this lobbyist as our “hero” who fights anti-smoking campaigns with a passion and conviction that has you wondering “Wish I was like this guy. I could have got my well deserved promotion 2 years ago.” This is a movie displaying the art of selling yourself best. For a guy who thinks he was born to speak on behalf the helpless and destitute. He does what he does best and the destitute for him are the Tobacco companies. The only 2 friends he has our 2 other lobbyists : one of them lobbying for gun usage and the other protecting alcohol companies. They sit down every weekend to put forth their contributions to mankind and they keep a tally of how many people lost their lives thanks to their “weapons of mass destruction”. And our tobacco lobbyist is always on top. I won’t divulge much of the script as there isn’t much to it and I don’t want to take away the little thrill and suspense buried in this movie. What you should be looking out for are the performances and a chance to evaluate things from another perspective.
If you are under any anti-smoking oath or vow, this will have you reconsider your options. Consider my “disclaimers” on that end.

The sound effect, photography and sets makes the movie worth watching....I personally am not a fan of loud,violent movie but this one was good.....This movie was released in Imax as well as conventional theatres
I am surprised how Jeegar hasnt written a review about this....for him this is ten out of ten.....

The final book in the 7-series Harry potter is written artistically, imaginatevly, thoughtfully. Wonder how J.K Rowling must have thought about all the characters. Harry, Ron and Hermione are on their secret mission by Albus Dumbledore, and on their journey they discover lot of truths. Dumbledore who seemed to be the wizard with utmost knowledge has a past and a human nature associated with him, Snape has little mention in the book but beautifully crafted plot of Snape. The book is complete with all aspects - wizardry, resurrection after death, love, desire to be the ruler, true frienship etc etc.
The finale is magical, even for muggles. |

I would have extrapolated the rating to "0.5" for this movie to cushion my frustration but will stick with 1.
This is a direct sequence by sequence copy of the English movie "Hitch" save the "Sarkailyo Khatiya" sequence by Govinda which was the highlight of the movie. Salman Khan was irritating to say the least and the next time he removes his shirt I am going to start practicing throwing darts. I had been waiting for this movie for so long and was extremely disappointed. Besides I stand guilty for dragging a few honorable Kutchis to this movie for which I will fast on Sunday. Only if David Dhawan had found our very own Kucthvalley Govinda (read Prashant) before he got started, this movie could have been saved.

This was a really good movie, amusing, exciting and a whirl of adventure with great effects. I thought it had some really nice action sequences and a lot of well placed/ timed humour. Funny one liners by Caption Jack. The language was a little hard for me to follow at times but it never really took me away from the movie as a whole. I want to watch it agian with subtitles. :) I Hope there is more Pirates beyond Worlds-End. Although i heard theres more after the credits to watch.. so don't miss it if u watch it. |

This was Kairavi's first movie in a theater and as such will stay in mind forever. But frankly this is not a movie to be seen in the theater. There is no newness involved since all characters are familiar now and its just more of the same stuff as in Shrek-1 and 2.
They have made an attempt to touch characters from various fairy tales and have pitted the good guys from these fairy tales vs the bad guys (so Cinderella, Snow White, etc vs Cinderalla's sister, Snow White's step mother, Captain Hook, etc).
Hopefully they wont make any more Shreks. The movie is watchable once but only on DVD. |

Tabu looks fabulous and classy.....Big B ......should concentrate on something else but movies......he is ok......Movie has some good sarcastic comedy....Cheeni Kum Title song plays throughout the movie with different versions.......Can understand Amitabh getting attracted to Tabu as she hurts his ego....but never understood why did Tabu fall for an oldie......infact the first look that she gave Big B reflected love and attraction for him.....
Can watch it once but towards the second half movie just drags......

95% of mouthshut reviewers recommend Metro and I agree with them.
First of all the positives :
1) Amazing starcast with Kay kay, Sharman Joshi, Irfan Khan, Konkona sen, shilpa shetty, shiny ahuja. All have acted wonderfully and are rightly cast.
2) Crisp editing which makes the story go along at a nice pace without much dragging.
3) Wonderful integration of songs. The Songs are WONDERFUL and are nicely integrated into the movie. I am going to buy the album of Metro the next time i visit a desi store. The concept of songs in this movie is good. Watch it and you will know what i mean.
4) Reasonably ok story line.
The minus points:
1) Some people may not like the mature concept (affairs, etc).
I think this movie is worth seeing once. Its better than lot of other movies in its genre (like for instance much better than KANK).
Sharman Joshi is getting better and better

The wave pool is awesome !! We went there yesterday and u can get tubes to ride the waves (once every 10 mins). Adults and older kids enjoyed. Keya was a bit upset by the waves but liked the normal pool and the lazy river. DownUnder Thunder is another cool ride in the water park area. |

Got it from the city library and we did not have high expectations of this movie. But it turned out to be a good light hearted comedy movie.
Salman tries to get Akshay to get married to his ex-wife Preity so that he can escape the alimony payments. Salman is EXCELLENT and some his scenes just made us laugh out loud. Akshay has done good in his geeky role. Preity is average. The chemistry between Salman and Akshay carries on from Mujhse Shaadi Karoge.
Gulzar lyrics are awesome. This movie has my favorite song "Sau dard hai."

An intriguing plot about diamond smuggling out of a trobled country under civil war. Leo is great and intense as usual. His role is a la Titanic. This movie also has an angle on mercenary troops, not the Jihadis-from-Afghanistan kind but Blackstone kind. I am fascinated by these soldiers on hire. I guess the money is good but that can not be the only motivation considering the risks. The movie does let down towards the end by turning into a usual Hollywood action flick however, the plot and background are really good. A must see. |

Now this is called interesting fate. Bhavini writes about "no recos", I put the ball in Sneha's court saying that she will watch a movie tonight (Mon) and eventually I end up watching a movie on Monday night. :-)
Of course we did not watch it to fill in KV recos but because the movie had to be returned to library tomorrow.
Dimple was more keen on watching this movie and I was just hoping to work while the movie was on. I was always skeptical of seeing Fanaa but after seeing it I put the Green stamp on it. Overall a nice movie. Kajol has acted better then Aamir. Wish she would do more movies and not take a retirement. The songs are nice and we had the surround sound on and it made for a melodious experience. The sher and shayaris are nice too.
Watch it if you have not seen it yet. |

Nair examines these issues by focusing her lens on two generations of the Ganguli family: husband Ashoke (Irrfan Khan) and wife Ashima (Tabu), a Bengali couple who immigrated to New York from India, and their children, Gogol and Sonia, who were born and raised in America.
I guess perception of America when somebody lands directly in Bay Area is very different from when somebody lands in cold weathers of East Coast.
The movie is a bit slow......

Wow. This movie can be seen just to see Hrithik's disguises. Overall a very entertaining film. Hrithik is the best among all but everyone has done a great job. Hrithik's entry into each scene accompanied by the fast background score makes for great viewing. Dont try to bring your mind to this film. Keep it aside and enjoy the show.
This is in fact a big screen movie and I regret not seeing it in big screen. Anyway on small screen it was enjoyable nonetheless. The songs are good and the background music adds to the thrills. Outside of the film the songs may not seem that good. But in the context of the movie they come to life.
Aish and Abhi both are awesome. Uday Chopra adds a good comic angle. Bips is above average too. (Not much to do for her).

Its a story about the land mafia and how the common layman often comes in their evil clutches. The story is realistic. Boman Irani and Anupam Kher as usual are excellent.

At first i was a bit skeptical about watching a movie whose story I already know. But after seeing it I would say that its worth seeing at least once.
The presentation and background music adds to "The Chase" to catch the Don. After all its a Farhan Akhtar movie. I thought someone else probably could have done the Don role well instead of Shahrukh khan. Shahrukh Khan ends up imitating the Big B a whole lot.
But overall the movie is worth a watch. |

Simple Story Well told. I am becoming a fan of Nagesh Kukunoor's movies. After Iqbal he has scored another winner in Dor. Gul Panang (Miss India 1999) has done a great job. So has Ayesha Takia. Shreyas Talepade is a bit miscast i think but his role is also good.
Story is set in Rajasthan. So provides a break from the usual city landscape also. |

Tere Bin - one of my favorite songs from this album is sung by one of my latest favorite singers - Atif Aslam (from Aadat and Woh Lamhe fame). The other songs in the album are also very beautifully sung by Kay Kay - my other favorite singer.
And in case, you havent watched the movie, it definitely deserves a viewing on DVD.

Its abt Sid(Rahul Bose) in love but even at 30 not in the frame of mind to get married and his girlfriend Trisha(Mallika Shrawat)who bends on her knees and proposes Sid. While Sid is trying to escape marriage Trisha is very sure that marriage is what she wants out of a three year old relationship..Its about their tug of war in the relationship...
Wile the film is constantly predictable and usually a trifle too obvious (much like Bose, although you don't mind him in this role), it manages to chug along just fine with its merrily random narrative. There are neat enough chapter titles, a cheeky spirit to the overall proceedings, a fine supporting cast and vital nifty little gimmicks -- a scene with an argument scoreboard (complete with applause sounds) as the couple bickers provides as much fun as it rings.
The script isn't much to write home about. The drama is ho-hum, and the second half is quite a drag compared to the pre-intermission fun. |

For those who know the workings of Madhur Bhandarkar from his earlier film "Page 3", this movie should be an easy following. Simplistically told "Corporate" is a story of rivalry between two business houses that brings to light the covert business tactics and the underhand ploys that are but a part of this current "Corporate world". Intricately involved are the lives of politicians at the central and state level, celebrities, journalists and opportunistic executives. An interesting question that keeps raising itself is "Whether politicians need businessmen more or vice versa".
This nexus of politicians, industrialists and executives weaves itself so initimately and resolves all sorts of issues that may arise to fancy everyones convenience, well, atleast for those "Who don't think from their hearts". If only this cynicism can be compromised with, ‘Corporate’ emerges as a good movie that ought to be seen once.

I would still give the first Munnbhai (MBBS) a 10 and this a 9 because that was the first one and hence more "uniqueness" around the first one.
However this one is also a must-see movie for all. If you dont have the time for theatre then dont worry. Its not a bigscreen movie as such since the its all in the dialogues. You can enjoy on DVD as well. But try to see it in a group and not alone.

This is another Priyadarshan movie. So you can guess it relies heavily on confusion and on more than required of characters for its comedy. This movie has its funny moments especially when Shahid Kapoor acts as a dumb/deaf guy and when he lands in the Gujju household. Some scenes between him, Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal are funny.
However The storyline does not make much sense. You can start watching the movie 20 mins from the start and stop viewing at 45 mins before the end. :-). In fact its one of the more ridiculous stories where the story seems to have been twisted to fit the gags.
You can give it a miss or if you have nothing else to watch then you can watch the middle portion of the fim.

LRMB - This for sure does not mean press Left, followed by Right and finally Middle Mouse Button. For those who haven't figured this one yet.. it is Lage Raho Munna Bhai.. kindaa the sequel to Munna Bhai MBBS.
I gave this a 9 not only for the entertainment roller-coaster it is, but the extra effort that the makers of this movie have put in to send a message across to citizens of India who seem to have forgotten the principles of Bapu - Mahatma Gandhi. I would have given it a 10 had it not been for my Gujju teacher (who happens to be in this movie as an old Parsi lady) who called me a "Rat" and slapped me in front of the class when I was still just in Grade 3. And those memories kept coming back when every few seconds you see the renowned Desi "Lapha" ringing across the dinghy walls on Naz.
From "Dadgiri" to "Gandhigiri", Munnabhai and Circuit are on the streets once again setting things straight. One sees the duo becoming a contemporary Bambai-style mascot that this country so much needs to make people laugh and at the same time touch some important and sensitive issues about Indian soicety. They did this as Doctors first with magic Jhaapis and now they are Gandhians with forgiveness. In LRMB the focus is on fighting corruption and superstition (Vastu Shastra and Astrology).
All that comes to mind after watching a film full of joy, fun, frolic, happiness, love, heart wrenching emotions and thought provoking dialogues is one question – can we have another one please???????
Come on Munnabhai --- Lage Raho !!!

Amitabh makes a fool of himself playing the Indian Snoop Dogg. SRK looks terribly old. Seems like all those tears have made his skin loose and he beats himself once again at overdoing the "Main Hoon Na" feature trying to downplay Amitabh and Abhishek. And Abhishek looks like a truck driver who had to buy diesel at Rs 100 / litre.
Guys spend those 3.5 hours at work instead. Trust me, you won't regret. |

A disappointing sequel. Of course, since its the sequel to the classic Hera Pheri, no matter what anyone said about it, I had to see it to see what happens to the characters of Baburao, Shyam, etc.
The first half is good with some laughs. There are some repeat jokes from Part-1 (dont know why?). The second half is hopeless. And did not evoke any laughter. Too many characters and Too many sub-stories. This is becoming a trend now (Having too many substories to increase the confusion). Unfortunately this does not contribute at all to the funniness of a movie.
You can avoid this movie and wait for it to come on TV. |

This may not be a movie liked by everyone. But we as a family agreed that the movie was watchable. Alag is probably India's first mutant film.
There are a few holes in the logic and the songs have no relevancy to the story. But the songs if considered for review separate from the movie are good. The choreography and picturization for "Hai Junoon" is really good. Akshay Kapoor (new actor) seems to be a good dancer with a good physique. He incidentally is from USA originally. Another song "Apun ki Toli" is also a fun song. The title song is soothing and is played thruout the movie.
Akshay kapoor has acted well. Has potential to make it big. |

There were some good dialogues and situations which sent us into guffaws. Paresh Rawal and Om Puri are good. Movie could have been better but looking at the scarcity of good comedy movies right now, this could be the movie to bring some laughs.

Wont say that its a big screen movie as such. But if you have urge to goto a theatre and see a movie and you like action movies then this could be the movie for u.
Other summer blockbusters are also coming. So save some money for that also. :-). Pirates of the Caribbean-2 sounds like a perfect movie for the summer.

Very thought provoking movie about Big pharmaceuticals indulging in shady practices in order to come up with block buster drugs. nicely picturized in Kenya with wonderful acting and background score. It is based on John Le Carre's book and is directed by the Brazilian director who made "City of God". Serious stuff. |

Its an Art Movie on life of Widows in India during early 1920's.
Good One but Lisa Ray and John Abraham are too modern for this type of a movie...The little girl named Chuiya in the movie has done a great job |

Quite funny and "different" movie, very good time pass. If you have seen Changing Lanes, you already know the story line, but this is a good bollywood version :) |

It has been quite a while since I saw a good movie. This movie was a great reminder that good movies are still coming out. Plus I don't think I have ever been disappointed by a Steven Spielberg film.
This movie was about the journey of a person who is given the task of getting revenge for the famous murder of 12 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. He is given a team of 4 other people and a list of 11 people who are primly responsible for this act that he and his group are to kill. Unlike some other movies, the movie plays more attention to the psychological aspect of his journey than the technical aspect (of actually doing the killing). I don't want to give too much more away so I will not...but if you are looking for a movie with which to recover from watching (the disappointing) Syriana, then this is your movie. I loved the movie, though it was long, it rarely felt that way. |

Its a light "halka-phulka" movie. We just recently saw it and hence the late review. In my opinion, its an ideal movie to take kids to.
Part-2 willl come out in Dec 2007. Am eagerly waiting for that. |
