Shizen Vegan Sushi (+ Jain Options)

Recently we had been to Shizen in SF. This place serves vegan food. We were not sure what could be prepared jain from menu, but when our server brought the list of items they can prepare onion/garlic free we were amazed. Will keep this article short and would just say that if you ever want to try Sushi, this place is a must visit! We loved food as well as ambience here.

  • Surprise Ending – No Hot Sause (which is the actual surprise)
  • Flying Colors* – GF, No Mayo or Sriracha
  • Mistaken Identity

  • Umeboshi Roll
  • Mixed Vegetable Roll* – No Onion
  • California Roll
  • Philadalphia Roll
  • Avacado Nigiri
  • Yuba Nigiri
  • Tofu Nigiri* – No Green Onion

  • Mango Nigiri

* Marked are ones which can be prepared without onion/garlic on request. Some items might have other roots (Carrots, Beetroot, etc..). You can modify the dish as per your restrictions.

Those who do not have any restrictions can enjoy the entire menu 😉

  2. We have been here couple of times and love the food! They don’t take reservations and on Thursday we had a wait for 45+ mins, so get their early and of course the parking worries 🙂

    We tried their Miso soup as well and can be skipped. Sushi/Rolls are the best !

  5. If this was a post without photos then I would not be as tempted. But looking at the photos am definitely tempted to try it out. Lets see when it happens. But thanks for the recommendation.

  6. +1 for Shizen! Recommend going in groups….its fun to try out a variety of plates. Their Ramen is good too!
