Oatmeal cooking tips for breakfast

1. Cook quick cooking steel cut oats in microwave for 4 minutes after pre soaking it for couple of hours.

2. Use steel cut oats – 1cup, 1 cup water + 1 cup milk and put it all together in a rice cooker.
Add some dates for sweetness + walnuts.

3. Bring water/ milk to boil in a glass bowl in the microwave in a 4:1 ratio, add oatmeal and cover and let it sit overnight.
In the morning when u are ready to eat add your choice of flavoring and heat and it’s ready to eat!
Even fat free milk makes very creamy and yummy regular steel cut oatmeal using this method.

  1. Nice tips. Somehow oatmeal does not figure in my list of things for breakfast. But I am open to it and will try the above things out. Thanks.

  2. We pre-roast many pounds of rolled oats along with nuts and Kesar. I microwave in soy milk for one minute and eat it at my desk.

  3. Recently I have tried mixing in our regular roti dough
    ( I soak around 4 spoons in hot water for 10 minutes and add it while making dough)

  4. Tried making Upma from Oatmeal. It turned out good. Bleneded into powdered oatmeal in blender.
